It has been some time since the iconic Robert Indiana "Love " Statue has graced JFK Park, but it returns just in time for Valentines Day! The statue was removed for restoration while the park itself underwent a massive transformation. If you have not seen the park in some time, you will find that the granite benches and ledges so beloved of local skateboarders have been banished and the large central fountain is now replaced by a water feature similar to what you see in Dilworth park. This past year's Christmas Market was kind of a 'Soft Opening " for the new park and you could get an idea of what the new space will be like. the "Flying Saucer" pavilion is being restored and will be used as a tourist information spot.
Love will return on Tuesday, Feb 14th after visiting various spots around center city, a new base has been prepared and you will notice that the statue has been restored to it's original colors of red, green and purple.
