Baby Needs and Adjustment

Baby Needs and Adjustment

I am the proud new mom of 3 month old Griffin, and as most moms will tell you, it takes 3 months to really get back to a state of normalcy- when sleep is no longer a pipe dream, and "mommy brain" starts to dissipate a bit- so hopefully I am competent enough to string a few sentences together.

Anyway, in reflecting on my experiences from pregnancy, to labor, to being a new mom- I have tapped into some amazing resources around Philadelphia that I wanted to share with moms and future moms.

The first was a chiropractor. I was barely into my first trimester and was having horrible sciatic pain in my lower back and shooting down my leg. Not a regular patient of chiropractic, I wanted to choose someone strategically. I called a chiropractor friend in New York who was going through a certification process of specializing in prenatal chiropractic care, and lo and behold I found out the mother of prenatal chiropractic care was right here in the Philadelphia area- Jeanne Ohm. Oh, and the son of the mother, Justin Ohm (also a specialist) was right on Passyunk Avenue in South Philadelphia. Yet ANOTHER reason Passyunk Square is the place to be!

Long story short- Justin was not only amazing at alleviating my pain, but he taught me more about my body and pregnancy and labor than any other individual (including my doula). I shared some of his wiswom (passing off as my own) at various pre-natal visits with a midwife who said I was the most informed new mom-to-be she had met in a long time! I saw him throughout my pregnancy and used his tips, and my back felt relatively great the whole time.

The practice also specializes in infant and child chiropractic. Check them out!
