Best Places to Watch Fireworks

If you are looking for a great place to watch the Fourth of July fireworks but want to avoid the massive crowds along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and Art Museum neighborhood, I have a few suggestions that are worth giving a try.  With Welcome America celebrations taking place throughout the city over a ten day period, there are several opportunities to catch a glimpse of some exciting firework displays.  On Saturday night, June 30th, fireworks will be launched over the Delaware River near Penns Landing.  To avoid the gridlock traffic in and around Old City, try Penn Treaty Park in Fishtown.  Located on the banks of the Delaware River, Penn Treaty Park is host to several great events throughout the year, including the popular Shad Fest in the spring.  After the fireworks check out Kraftwork or Interstate Draft house for great beer and quality eats.  On Wednesday night, July 4th, try Lemon Hill in lieu of the Parkway.  Located in Fairmount Park just behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Lemon Hill offers the best unobstructed view of the light show.  After the festivities, stop by for great cocktails and a lite bite.  Email me if you have any favorite places of your own.  Happy Fourth!
