We have been waiting for this moment for nearly four years - the moment when as an organization, we start to save lives, directly. That moment is now. This weekend we will be pulling two dogs out of ACCT (Philadelphia's intake shelter) and placing them in Monster Miler foster homes and putting them up for adoption.
We couldn't have done this without YOUR support. Whether you donated to one of our race teams, saw us at a race and told a friend, ran miles with dogs at PAWS or STAR, shared a link on our website, or registered for The Rescue Run 5K - all of the buzz that was generated over the last four years has paved the way for this.
Look for updates and photos to follow of our first two saves.
How you can help:
Register for The Rescue Run 5K: This is our main fundraiser for the year. As an all-volunteer org, all of the funds raised at the race go directly to our mission and foster care costs.
Check out our amazon.com wishlist for foster care supplies we need. With a few clicks, you can help stock us up with supplies for our foster families. Send us a jar of peanut butter to stuff Kongs with, or some leashes: It all helps!
Do you have an old crate collecting dust in your basement? We are looking for gently used crates. Contact us for pick-up / drop-off information.
If you are interested in becoming a foster parent yourself for The Monster Milers, contact Leah Milito at firstname.lastname@example.org. We provide our foster homes with the supplies needed to make your foster experience a success: Crates, Kongs, Training Treats, Food, etc. We even have mentors available if you need guidance and advice during your foster experience.
Cuddles is for adoption now at PAWS. As his name implies, Cuddles is content to sit in your lap! He does have character and personality, though, and is always ready to sniff out adventure or meet new people. He has a wavy coat and a sweet face that will melt your heart. Cuddles can move pretty fast on his short legs! He likes quick runs and long walks.
Cuddles will be featured on Be Well Philly this week! If you aren't following BWP - you should be. It's a wonderful resource for active Philly residents and they're huge Miler supporters.
If you are a current Miler and would like to sign up for a volunteer shift to take Cuddles (or any other dog) for a run, log onto our scheduling website today! We only have a handful of bibs left and suspect we are going to sell out late this week or this weekend. Still haven't registered? Don't miss out! Register ASAP.
