City Resurfacing Operations Cause Street Closures

This is good to know if you live in the city or if you're planning on driving into the city sometime during the next two months

Acting Streets Commissioner David J. Perri announced today that street closures and parking restrictions will occur over the course of the next two months for street resurfacing.

Starting Monday, August 5, the contractor will begin street resurfacing operations, which will include milling, adjusting of manhole covers, resetting of utility boxes, and paving in Center City. Work will require complete street closures and parking restrictions for each of the scheduled activities.

The following streets will be resurfaced:

  • 8th Street, from Market Street to South Street.
  • 9th Street, from Market Street to South Street.
  • Locust Street, from Broad Street to Washington Square.
  • 12th Street, from Market Street to South Street.
  • 11th Street, from Market Street to South Street.
  • Lombard Street, from Front to 2nd and 9th to 13th

Operations for milling and paving work will be performed during the evening hours between the hours of 7pm and 3am. Work for adjusting and resetting of utility boxes will be scheduled during the day between the hours of 9am through 6pm.

Residents should expect parking restrictions along the streets in order to complete the work. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted in advance of each scheduled activity. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling around the work areas.

This work is being completed by C. Abbonizio Contractors, Inc., and is part of the Center City Resurfacing SE Quadrant project. The project is being financed with Federal and City funding.

The Streets Department thanks the citizens in advance for their patience and cooperation during this project.
