Dog Friendly Philly Where To Let The Dogs Off Leash

Dog Friendly Philly Where To Let The Dogs Off Leash

My dog, Ceni, is my trusty sidekick. Or maybe I'm her trusty sidekick. Either way, the past four-and-a-half years together have been a wonderful adventure and it just keeps getting better.

When Ceni was younger, the goal of getting her enough exercise was unattainable. She could walk for hours and come home wanting to play. And play. And play. It was then that I really started to take note of this amazing city, the character of certain streets, the charm of different neighborhoods, how architectural style vary block to block, and sometimes even door to door. It was during those miles that Ceni and I covered together that I really fell in love with this city. Not just my life in the city, but the city itself.

And then I discovered dog parks. They changed my life. Ceni is no longer a dog park kind of dog (she's a bit pickier about who her friends are these days) but those large, enclosed social clubs for dogs played a huge role in keeping us both sane early on in our relationship. After an hour of running and wrestling and playing fetch, Ceni would get home and sleep for hours. It was amazing.

Of course dog dynamics are complicated and you absolutely must keep a close eye on your pooch at all times. And of course, they are not for everyone (like me and Ceni, for example). But if your canine companions could use an off-leash romp, and they've got stellar inter-doggie social skills, here are some local dog parks to check out.
